A Love Of Honour
Show Notes

Philotimo! A Greek noun translating to 'love of honour', but a word almost impossible to translate completely due to its complexity of nature. However, our guest Lena seems to portray the use of this word perfectly for us, as she talks about her Greek background and the somewhat natural draw to living up to a love of honour.

Lena takes us on a journey of growth and discovery as she realises a desire to volunteer, and maximise her giving nature in a school in Zambia, called Simoonga Thandizani Trust School, located no too far from the majestic Victoria Falls.

Lena gives us a philosophical look at the role of being a volunteer, of her reasoning for doing what she did, and to find the right motivation for becoming a volunteer.

Her involvement with the school allowed her to feel 'one of the best feelings I ever felt in my life'. Seeing these children in their element gave her the chance to feel like a kid again, and to allow her inner child to come out and embrace the feeling of doing something without an end goal, and to just do something for the point of doing it. A chance to see things from the child's perspective.

If you're looking into being a volunteer somewhere, listening to this chat will give you some inspiration on how to go about things, not in a physical way, but in a way that will make you consider mindset, and the reasons to become involved.

It's a refreshing chat with someone very wise, despite her years. A chat that just oozes inspiration and a feeling of joy.
